Lord Of Heaven (Zeus)

In ancient Greece, Zeus was a god of the pantheon, the sky and weather god identical to the Roman god Jupiter. He is regarded as the messenger of rain and wind, and his traditional weapon is the thunderbolt. He is called the father of God and men (i.e. ruler and protector).

According to a Cretan legend that was later adopted by the Greeks, Cronus, king of the Titans, swallowed his own children as soon as they were born when he realized that he was destined to dethrone one of his children. But his wife Rhea saved Zeus by substituting a stone wrapped in a wrapping cloth for Cronus to swallow Zeus in a cave in Crete. There he was cared for by the nymph (or ) she-goat Amalthaea, and guarded by young warriors who clashed with their weapons to cover the child's cries. After Zeus was raised as a human, he rebelled against the Titans and conquered Cronus. As ruler of the heavens, Zeus triumphed over the giants (descendants of Gaea and Tartarus) and successfully put down many rebellions by his gods.
